A Schedule asks Charlie to do work for you. Your own Schedules come in three kinds:
  • One-time: runs once at the time you choose.
  • Recurring: runs on a cadence, such as every weekday at 9 AM.
  • Triggered: runs when something happens in a connected app, such as an email from a particular person arriving.
A reminder is a one-time Schedule: it fires in the cloud at the time you choose and notifies every device signed in to your account. Giving a todo a due date does not, by itself, schedule Charlie to act. With event reminders on, Char also reminds you a few minutes before each meeting on your connected Google Calendar. These fire in the cloud too, so they arrive with your Mac closed, and moving or cancelling the meeting updates or removes its reminder.

Ask for a reminder or a Schedule

Ask Charlie in any chat. Include the time or the event to watch for, the source to check, and the result you want. For example:
Every weekday at 9 AM, review this project page and prepare a short list of open questions. Do not send messages to anyone.
Remind me to call Sam tomorrow at 3 PM.

Review and manage the schedule

Use Settings → Schedules to review each Schedule’s timing, the connected apps it may use, and its run history. You can edit, pause, or cancel a Schedule, or run it now. Reminders are listed under one-time Schedules, where you can cancel them. A connection does not grant unrestricted access: review the permissions attached to each Schedule. On desktop, the Schedules list shows Char’s built-in Schedules first, then your own:
  • Briefing writes the brief of today and tomorrow at midnight, then rewrites it when today’s or tomorrow’s events or todos change. It appears on Home as Upcoming and turns on when you connect a calendar.
  • Tidying proposes tidying Home each morning, as Scratchpads. Nothing moves until you apply them.
  • Debriefing recaps your day on weekday evenings: how you spent it, what got done and what’s still open.
  • Triaging puts a Card on Home for each email thread that needs you, as mail arrives. It turns on when you connect an email account.
Two more built-ins build memory and are not listed. Remembering turns your activity, chats and meetings into History as it happens. Dreaming runs at 4 AM in your time zone, summarizes the day before in History by part of the day, then updates Collections with what Charlie learned. Both are part of the Pro and Max plans; on Free they stay paused. Built-ins keep their names, and their switches are locked: neither you nor Charlie can pause, cancel or rename them. You can still open one to see its details and recent runs, or run it now. For your own Schedules, use a row’s switch to pause or resume work, or open its details to inspect the schedule. Create offers setup with Char and a manual form. A recurring todo is a Schedule too: ask Charlie for one, and it adds the todo in the cloud each time.

Find the result

A Schedule controls when Charlie works. Its result may appear in a Card on Home or another Page, or continue an existing chat. Open the resulting work to read it, answer a Prompt, or ask a follow-up. The Card and the Schedule serve different purposes: removing a Card from a Page does not cancel the Schedule. Use Settings → Schedules to manage future runs.

Check where a Schedule runs

Schedules run in the cloud on every plan, with every device closed, while you have credits left. A run that comes due when you have no credits left is skipped, and its history shows Skipped: out of credits; Schedules resume on their own when credits are available. Reminders don’t use credits and always fire. A Schedule needs its required sources and connections available. One of your own Schedules pauses after 3 failed runs in a row, so a broken one doesn’t keep spending credits (a skipped run doesn’t count, and a successful run starts the count over); built-ins keep retrying on their own timing. If a Schedule is blocked or paused after failures, check its status and connections before resuming it. After the scheduled time, check the run history and the result. If no result appears, confirm that Char was available and the required apps were connected before retrying.
