Connect your first app

  1. Open Settings → Apps.
  2. Find the app you want to use.
  3. Open its details and follow the connection or sign-in action shown there.
  4. Choose the correct account and review the permissions requested by that service.
  5. Return to Char and check the connection status.
Start with one app you already use. You can add others when you need them.

Connect any mailbox (IMAP)

For mail outside Gmail and Outlook, such as iCloud, Fastmail or Yahoo, open Email (IMAP) in Settings → Apps and choose Connect. Enter your address and password; Char fills in the servers for well-known providers. Use an app password where your provider offers one. Char signs in to check it before saving, keeps the password sealed in your account in the cloud, and never shows it again.

Connect when Charlie asks

Charlie can offer an app connection in a Prompt during setup or a chat. Choose Connect to open the service’s sign-in flow, or Not now to leave it disconnected. Review the account and requested permissions, then return to Char. Check that the connection succeeded before relying on it; opening the sign-in window alone does not finish setup. Connecting supplies access to that app. It does not automatically accept a suggested reply or other work shown in the Card.

Test the connection

Ask for a small read-only request first:
Use my connected calendar to tell me what is scheduled tomorrow. Include the calendar name so I can check the account.
Choose a request supported by the app you connected. If the result refers to the wrong account, correct the connection before asking Charlie to create or update anything.

Apps and Skills

  • Apps connect Char to services and tools, such as your calendar or email. Agent apps connect other AI agents, such as coding agents, to Char.
  • Skills package reusable instructions and optional resources for particular kinds of work. A Skill has no schedule of its own.
Installing instructions does not automatically sign you into every service they mention. Follow any separate connection step required by the app.

Disconnect or reconnect

Open the app’s details in Settings and use the available management action. If access has expired, reconnect to the intended account. You can also review or revoke access in the service’s own account settings.

If an app is missing

Use the Apps list in your installed version as the current list of supported connections. Tell us which service and job you need in Discord.
